Dear colleague, we are pleased to inform you that the initial attempt to organize a meeting on Information Theory and Cryptography, in Valladolid, next autumn, is now taking shape. Following the excellent idea of the winter school in Denmark, we intend to create a meeting point for experts in the fields and students who are now starting their research activity. The idea would be that the experts could give survey talks on different subjects, while the students could present their current works. We would like you to join us if possible, giving a survey talk and/or encouraging some of your students to come. The meeting will be held in 'Castillo de la Mota', a medieval castle in Medina del Campo (about 30 km south of Valladolid), from the 6th to the 8th of September 1999. The inscription fee that will include the lodging expenses (nights from the 5th to the 7th) and all the meals (from the breakfast on the 6th, up to lunch on the 8th) will be about 20000 pesetas (approximately 120 Euros). Due to space limitations in the castle, the number of particiants must be limited to around 30, hence we would greatly appreciate an early response telling us the number of interested people from your institution. Looking forward to meeting you here. Our best regards Angela Barbero (on behalf of the Organizing Committee)
